THE
EVERYTHING
EXPERIMENT™
A podcast for the endlessly curious
What happens when you bring together a neuroscientist, a chef, a philosopher, and an ultra-marathoner? You get conversations that go places you never expected.
The Everything Experiment™ isn't about staying in your lane. It's about crossing as many lanes as possible—because that's where the most interesting ideas live.
Every week, I sit down with remarkable people to explore what makes life fascinating, meaningful, and worth living.
Following Curiosity Wherever It Leads
We don't follow a format. We follow wonder.
One week we're discussing Stoic philosophy and resilience. The next, we're exploring the science of flow states or the art of Japanese tea ceremonies.
Philosophy. Science. Adventure. Culture. Food. Movement. Art. Performance. Leadership.
Because life isn't one-dimensional. Why should our conversations be?
This Podcast Is for You If...
You're tired of surface-level conversations
You love connecting ideas across different fields
You believe there's always more to learn
You're on your own journey of exploration and want company along the way
You'd rather be fascinated than comfortable

What's going on everybody? Welcome to
0:02
the Everything Experiment. My name is
0:04
Austen LeTourneau and I am somebody who
0:07
is so pumped to be bringing this show to
0:09
you and we're finally here. This show,
0:12
if I could sum it up for you in one
0:14
sentence, is a living documentary of
0:17
what it means to really be alive. And
0:20
I'm going to explain that because
0:23
to give you a little bit of backstory,
0:25
I'm somebody who spent most of my life
0:27
in survival mode, 30 years, you know,
0:29
three decades living subconsciously,
0:32
just going through the motions. And all
0:35
of a sudden,
0:37
some events in my life brought me out of
0:39
survival mode, thankfully. And I looked
0:43
forward for the first time ever in my
0:45
life and thought, "Holy shit." Like, I
0:48
haven't been living at all. I have just
0:51
been subconsciously
0:53
on autopilot for my whole life. And
0:55
there's so much [ __ ] out there to
0:56
explore. And I've got this freaking bone
0:59
in me to just [ __ ] explore
1:02
everything. And I'm so I'm such a
1:04
curious person. And when I finally
1:06
accessed
1:08
that
1:10
ability to just honor myself, I started
1:15
to say, "Fuck, I'm going to go out and
1:17
I'm just going to I'm going to do all of
1:19
the things that I've been wanting to
1:20
do." Like, why not? Life is so [ __ ]
1:22
short. And I I heard a quote from oh, I
1:27
forget who it was, but they said that
1:29
one of the leading regrets that people
1:32
list when they're on their deathbeds is
1:34
that they didn't do more. And the way I
1:37
interpret that quote is not necessarily
1:39
like,
1:41
you know, I should have done more in my
1:42
career or or or whatever or put more
1:45
effort into my job or whatever. That
1:48
might be some people's and that's
1:49
totally fine. mind though is I I
1:52
honestly just got super real with myself
1:55
and said
1:58
think about when you're 70, 80, 90, who
2:02
who knows how old you'll be, but just
2:03
think of yourself as an old man on your
2:06
deathbed and you really don't want to be
2:10
that person that says you wish you did
2:11
more. You do not want there's there's
2:13
another platform out there that talks
2:16
about like the the ghosts of who you
2:19
could have been standing around your
2:21
deathbed and it's just like this
2:24
powerful moment where you go there's so
2:26
much to explore in life and life really
2:29
is short and whether you have like a
2:32
health scare or something that kind of
2:33
jolts that in you it can be a lot of
2:36
things that do that but I'm so grateful
2:37
that in my life you know certain things
2:40
occurred even though in the moment they
2:41
were difficult
2:43
They ultimately woke me up. And when I
2:46
woke up, I said, you know what? I wanted
2:49
to do more now. And I needed to honor
2:52
that creativity and that explorer and
2:55
that adventure within me now because I
2:58
didn't want to have it be too late where
3:01
I wasn't able to do it. And so on this
3:03
show, we're covering everything. And
3:06
that's why it's called the Everything
3:07
Experiment because you know what? The
3:09
the best experiment is living. and we're
3:13
covering science, art, culture, the
3:17
cosmos, cuisine, travel, nutrition,
3:21
fitness,
3:22
you know, anything is game on this show
3:25
and that's why I'm so excited because
3:27
when I think back to why I initially
3:30
wanted to,
3:32
you know, start start a podcast was
3:35
because I wanted to
3:38
I wanted to just explore everything. I
3:40
wanted to be curious about all the
3:42
things that intrigued me. And in doing
3:46
so, I wanted to meet people. I wanted to
3:49
go places. I wanted to experience
3:51
things. And for such a large portion of
3:55
my life, it had just been wake up, eat,
4:00
work,
4:02
survive, make myself small, go to bed,
4:04
wake up, do it all over again.
4:07
And talk about just being miserable.
4:10
Before long, my life blew up, but it
4:14
needed to blow up because now we're
4:16
here. And now the everything experiment
4:18
is underway. And I'm so [ __ ] pumped
4:22
because what I want this show to inspire
4:26
in people is to live an intentional life
4:28
and to go out there and just do the
4:31
things that interest you and intrigue
4:33
you. And you know, you might be afraid
4:37
of making decisions or you might be
4:39
afraid of like trying new things. And
4:42
I'm somebody that because of living so,
4:45
you know, sheltered and subconscious for
4:46
such a long time, I was like afraid to
4:49
branch out and try stuff. But like as
4:51
I've been doing it and trying new things
4:53
and just kind of loosening up a bit, I
4:57
shouldn't say a bit, I should say a lot.
4:59
as I've been loosening up a bunch,
5:03
it's just this lightness that I carry
5:05
into my life now. And granted, we all go
5:07
through things that are challenging, but
5:09
the the important thing is is that we
5:13
soak up
5:15
everything that we can get out of life
5:17
while we're here because we only get one
5:19
freaking ride around this planet and
5:23
that's it. That is it. And so I have
5:27
made it my life's mission to pursue the
5:31
ultimate life of intention and to bring
5:34
you along for that ride in the hopes
5:36
that it'll do the same thing for you or
5:38
help you make that same kind of
5:40
adjustment in your life to really just
5:42
do the things that you want to do or do
5:44
the things that intrigue you or interest
5:47
you. So like I said, you know, we're
5:50
we're covering any topic. We're going to
5:53
talk with so many different people. I'm
5:56
going to be, you know, putting myself in
5:59
certain experiences and kind of talking
6:01
about how those things go and what I
6:04
learned from those things. And I can
6:05
already tell you that, you know, as I've
6:08
been starting that process for myself,
6:10
I've already had such like breakthroughs
6:14
already where I'm looking like, why was
6:15
I ever even afraid of that? you know,
6:17
like something that you might be afraid
6:19
of or like scared to do or pursue or
6:21
nervous to pursue
6:24
can open up the ultimate liberation for
6:26
your life and introduce something
6:28
[ __ ] awesome for you. And so, this
6:31
show is literally all about just soaking
6:34
up everything we can out of life. And,
6:37
you know, I'm somebody who is
6:40
interested in so many different things.
6:42
surfing,
6:43
science, you know, nature. That's
6:46
another big one that we're going to
6:48
cover a lot of, but it's going to go
6:50
anywhere and everywhere. The Everything
6:52
Experiment is here.
6:55
I'm so excited that you're here. I
6:57
really am grateful to have you and I
7:01
hope that you are able to get a lot out
7:04
of this and I hope you're ready. I hope
7:08
you're ready to just hear about so many
7:11
different things. Hear and see so many
7:14
different things. I'll probably be
7:15
sharing some clips that I try that I do
7:19
film and some of the experiences. I'll
7:20
probably weave some in and out of
7:22
certain episodes, but
7:25
this is going to be a [ __ ] ride. It's
7:27
going to be so much fun. It's also going
7:29
to be really deep and intimate at times
7:32
depending on what we're exploring
7:33
because like I said, we're going to get
7:35
into some heavy [ __ ] We're gonna get
7:36
into some really light-hearted and fun
7:39
[ __ ] It's gonna be all over the place,
7:42
but that's exactly why we're doing it,
7:44
man. is this is the best experiment we
7:47
can all
7:48
pursue is the experiment of life and
7:51
figuring out what makes us tick and what
7:55
just brings us alive and what makes us
7:58
feel like we're really
8:01
just so at peace and fulfilled with the
8:06
life that we've lived by the time we
8:08
reach the end of the road. So,
8:12
strap in, get excited, get pumped. I am,
8:16
and I'm really grateful that you're
8:18
here. The everything experiment is going
8:21
to take us all over the place. And I'm
8:24
so excited. It's so different from the
8:28
old me.
8:31
But the old me was not the real me. This
8:33
is the real me. And that's what this
8:35
show is all about, inspiring in others,
8:37
is the real you. Go out there, do more,
8:41
do [ __ ] do the things you want, and
8:44
pursue what intrigues you. So again,
8:46
welcome to the Everything Experiment.
8:48
Thank you so much for being here, and we
8:49
will catch you on the next one.
